Lake TWP Tornado Memorial

The Lake Township Tornado Memorial is dedicated to the memory of the seven lives that perished in the wake of the deadly storms on June 5, 2010. The eight pillars in front of the Administration Building under the overhang represent our community in the wake of the deadly storms: “Strong, Together and Supportive”.

Part of the concrete walkway in front of the columns is triangle-shaped, dark grey in color to symbolize the tornado. The triangle is set at 65 degrees, to represent 6/5/2010 which represents the month and day of the tornado. Column dimensions also reflect the time the tornado struck, 11:30 p.m.

Bricks from the old building were salvaged to create the base of the black granite topped monument, which is set in the direction of the Tornado and contains the names of those who perished.

May they never be forgotten.
